  • Avanti Extra-Large Toaster Oven Reviews By Customers
  • As I had no oven and wanted to bake, I bought this to fill in the gap. As there is no way to "try before you buy," I had to go on "instinct" and how it looked. I did not want the usual toaster/oven. I needed something larger and more accurate. Once I learned how to use it (it has its quirks), I find it a perfect choice. It has the maximum wattage for a home appliance. This is something to get used to for it is a large oven (12"X16" interior). If the door is opened (like any oven, the) temperature drops. I dveloped a work-around of using a ceramic floor tile cut in half as a baking stone to retain heat. I set the thermostat a bit high in the beginning to compensate for this drop. I used an oven thermometer to keep a watchfull eye on my various adjustments until I got confident. The thermostat is accurate and the unit maintains an accurate temperature. The turbo fan should not be used in baking as it lowers the temp too much. The top and bottom heating setting (Toast) is important in keeping the temp constant. Otherwise "just set it and forget it." The instructions, like most of todays instructions, that come with the unit could be better with more accurate and detailed information. The thermostat knob needs more detailed temp settings. If you are thinking about buying this unit, I whould highly recommend it. I have not use it for other kinds of cooking. So for your use, these comments may have no bearing. Have lots of fun. It is a dandy.

Great Design & Look BUT one problem ... - nina - bklyn new orleans
we bought it because we liked the styling (it looks very european) (whatever that truly means) - it looks industrial and not cutesy. we liked this. avanti isn't a big known brand. we knew that. it was on sale for 0 which was a fab deal. works great. but one big problem - it does not heat above 350 degrees. we suspected this and bought a good gauge which says it gets up to 350 but no more. actually i would say not even 350 but closer to 340 ... that's it. we're going to keep it though. oh well. i subscribe to the belief that in this world, if i seek perfection, i will be disappointed.

  • Avanti Countertop Mini-Kitchen Oven - White Reviews By Customers
  • I have this Avanti Mini Kitchen Oven and am quite impressed with it...For the money, it has many wonderful features, very user friendly and built very well. Definitely would recommend.

    Junk - M. Haghighi - CA, USA
I bought one of these as I moved into my small apartment. The moment I took it out of the box I had a bad feeling about it. It felt badly constructed and not very sturdy. The oven door wouldn't really shut tightly and the heat was seeking out. There was no temperaure control for the hot plates and after two month of occasional use it just died on me. I wouldn't recommend this product to anybody. Avanti should be ashamed of itself to put such a poorly constructed product on the market.

    Not a review but I'm interested - M. Leach - North California
I do not own this product but am curious about it.
I have read a few reviews elsewhere and folks seem to like it, but one reviewer wrote that it was not built very sturdily, and that the hotplates can only be set to "high"; not low or medium. If true that seems odd and not useful for cooking to me.

I really hope someone will write a review here as it is an interesting product for very compact cooking.

I may end up getting a separate countertop convection oven/rotisserie and a couple of hotplates, because I am wary of multiple purpose appliances where one function may break down.

Word to the wise; DON'T BUY ONE - G. Balmes - Washington
I purchased mine from the Gevalia catalog several years ago and may be slightly different ( the door that is)

Though it cooked OK it was the mess. Ever time I cooked a a package of chicken thighs or legs, a huge amount of grease leaked from the bottom of the door onto the kitchen counter. Cleaning the oven bottom was like cleaning a conventional oven, all crusted and all. I could never get the top burners to work so I gave the Avanti to some friends when my brother and sis-in-law gave me there Thane Flavorwave. World of difference you can cook a pizza in one of those but not in the Avanti. So a word to the wise, DON'T BUY ONE (Avanti)
