Black & Decker Ruined a Good SpaceMaker Toaster/Broiler Oven - EKGL - Ridgeland, MS
If I did not really want my toaster/broiler under the cabinet I would either return or throw away this piece of junk. The old SpaceMaker oven had a heat shield easily attached under your cabinet and the oven just slid in. With the new model you cannot see where the screws attach to the heat shield. Installation is difficult and I was not provided the length of screw I needed to install the oven. The oven cannot be installed if you do not used screws exactly the right length to install the heat shield. Had to buy four from a specialty store. The old oven allowed you to set how you wanted your toast browned and each day you just pulled down a little lever and you were good to go - now you turn the dial past 10, turn it back and hope for the best. Also, the hooks on the glass door attached to the tray pulling the the tray out when the door is opened have been removed. Now I must get a hot pan holder to pull the tray out. Have only used the broiler once - finally moved the item to my regular sized oven. Black and Decker is known for quality, user friendly items. I am very happy with my yard and tool items. However, Black and Decker needs to clean house in their SpaceMaker division.

Like some of the other reviewers, I purchased this toaster oven without consulting these reviews. What a mistake. I bought it because it was the only unit on the market designed to go under the cabinet. I immediately wasn't thrilled with its toasting ability or the overly simplistic knobs that don't allow you to preset the toast level. The hood was not only difficult for us to install (despite the fact that we had installed several in past years), it was downright dangerous. I wasn't the least bit surprised when the whole unit fell off the mounting hood after just two months. B&D offered to send me a new one but it's been back-ordered for more than a month, with no end in sight. I finally returned the whole thing in disgust. Now it's back to the drawing board. Why doesn't anyone else make an under-cabinet toaster oven?

Bracket is a PAIN - annette -
Bracket was a PAIN to install and even worse to get fastened into place. Screws were NOT long enough, had to hunt down a new set of screws in the right size and threading(3 stores later) Used screws from my OLD oven bracket. Cut off the long ends and STILL had trouble getting the toaster clipped in right. B&D should have kept their old bracket design that you could unplug toaster and just slide it off/on whenever you need to empty out crumbs. This one will have to stay put!!

I had another one of these toasters for YEARS! Replaced it with this new one and I HATE IT! First there isn't a tray and I loved my old one to heat like pot pies and pizza, so I can't do that, very hard to make toast and it always burns! So Im sending it back!,

I bought this to replace my old SpaceMaker and I like this one better.
The temperature control is accurate and the oven is easy to clean. I have a small kitchen so having it mounted under a cabinet is a plus!
