  • Krups high-speed quartz heating system takes masterful control of heat in the chamber. Each set of quartz heating element, both top and bottom, is alternately powered at the full 1600 watts to maximize the effect of radiant heat. The heat distribution is aided by a special reflective crumb tray that directs this important form of heat to all corners for excellent results. Convection heat, important for longer baking times, circulates heated air around the food for the best result in the fastest time. The defrost function uses the convection fan only and gently and evenly defrosts food without producing hot spots. This 6-slice toaster oven has temperature controls in 25 degree increments from 150-450 degrees, a digital timer from 1 minute to 90 minutes and an auto shut off after elapsed time. For toasting, it has 9 levels or browning with a countdown timer. Illuminated LCD control panel with easy to use controls and high quality soft touch buttons, it has a digital clock that displays when the cooking functions are not in use. The non-stick interior surface is durable and easy to clean. This unit includes a non-stick bake pan, broiling tray and thermal resistant tongs for safe removal of hot pans or food and comes with a 1-year warranty.

AWFUL! AVOID!!! FIRE HAZARD!!!!!!!!!!!! - J. Chipko -
I'll start off with if this toaster were to actually work, it would be very nice. It has great features, toasts wonderfully, and for the short time that it did work, my wife and I started using this instead of our actual oven for most things (other than her baking), but you could probably even use it for that. It looks very high-tech, and has a nice beep to let you know your food is done in case you are busy preparing other food or getting ready in the morning. Plus, if you recently used the toaster and it is still warm, it is able to self-adjust the toasting time so if you want it to be toasted to darkness #4, then it won't be burnt.

Now, in reality, this toaster is awful. My wife and I went through two of them because after 1-2 weeks of use of each one, the toaster would freeze during toasting. During the countdown of toasting, it would stop counting, display "Err" on the screen, and the toaster would stay on indefinately until you unplugged it. If you weren't watching the toaster, it would burn your food because there is no audible noise to say that something has gone awry. If you turned it on to bake something, and didn't pay attention, who knows how hot or long it would stay on for....maybe even start fire.

If this happened once, then fine. We returned the first toaster and got the second one. Well, the second one did the exact same thing. We finally decided to forget this brand and went with a Breville instead.

Not only did this happen to us on Amazon, but my parents had the exact same experience with this toaster when they purchased it through Macy's in 2009. When we called Krups about this awful experience, they noted that both the toaster from Amazon and from Macy's were manufactured in 2008 and had they not been able to be returned, the manufacturer's warrenty was no longer valid according to the woman on the phone for their customer service.

So, overall, and awful experience with this toaster. For the 2 weeks that it did work, it was great. However, due to the fact that 4/4 of these toasters malfunctioned to the point where they are a fire hazard, I would AVOID THIS TOASTER AT ALL COSTS.

Dangerous Toaster - H. Monroe Lovelady, Jr. - Penn Valley, CA United States
The controls freeze up and the toaster will not shut off unless you unplug it. This is a serious fire hazard. This is the second unit I've had with this problem. The problem appeared after only two days of usage. I returned the first one for a replacement thinking it was a fluke, only now to have the same problem with the second unit. It is going back and I am NOT getting another one.

Too bad, because it's a very nice unit with three heating elements on top and bottom which is difficult to find. I liked it otherwise, but I guess that doesn't matter since I don't want it to burn my house down.

Just ok for 3 years, then..... - Howius - Los Angeles, CA
Basically, this had been a standy for us in the kitchen. We put up with the fact that it took 8 minutes to toast toast, or the door that didn't really close after a while. It was an old friend, and we didn't make much of its inadequacies. Then, out of the blue, it stopped working. The elements no longer worked even though the electronics would. Turns out to fix it is just south of buying a new one, but I think I will steer clear of this one again. Nothing real special here, I'd say.

  • It's not easy to find a space saver toaster oven
The last one I had went on fire.
This black and decker toater oven seems good so far.
It takes some time to mount, but not impossible and you have to get use to the toasting feature. The idea here is not to leave the toaster oven unattended on the toast feature. I do wish this had come with a tray beacause it is deeper then the older models. In all I like it.

Not as good as the old model - Catherine e -
I had another one of these toasters for YEARS! Replaced it with this new one and I HATE IT! First there isn't a tray and I loved my old one to heat like pot pies and pizza, so I can't do that, very hard to make toast and it always burns! So Im sending it back!,

Happy cooking! - Carol T. Cook - Folsom, Ca.
I bought this to replace my old SpaceMaker and I like this one better.
The temperature control is accurate and the oven is easy to clean. I have a small kitchen so having it mounted under a cabinet is a plus!

  • Why a convection oven you ask? The answer is simple: cook up to 30% faster and cook foods more evenly. A fan gently circulates the heat. The Exact Heat sensor maintains precise oven temperature for baking and broiling while the shade control memorizes up to seven brownness settings for toasting.

  • Cuisinart TOB-165 Convection Toaster Oven/Broiler, White Reviews By Customers
  • I have just started using a toaster oven, so I'm still getting the hang of incorporating it into my everyday life. This little appliance works great! It is easy to use and doesn't take up much counter space.

I don't use it nor intend to use it for toasting bread (I have a regular toaster for that). I purchased a toaster oven so that I could still do oven cooking without heating up the entire kitchen in summertime. Where I live it is nothing for summer temperatures to exceed 100 degrees plus and this is just what I needed to accomplish the small oven tasks. The convection is a nice feature also. I have not used the broiler setting, but so far this great little appliance does everything I had hoped for!

When cooking is done, I find the alarm is loud enough. Some things that I've seen people complain about are no light inside (like a regular oven) and when timer goes off the oven should turn off - these may be useful, and perhaps would be options on higher-end appliances, but I think this toaster oven works fine.

I do have to remember that the entire outside of the oven gets hot though - the cool white paint can be deceiving. I would recommend having enough space on your counter to give it ample ventilation for any cabinets above as well as on the sides.

I also purchased the drip tray liner also to help with clean up and everything so far is working fine.

A great toaster but our handle broke off - V. Morton - CT, USA
Love this toaster. We've had ours for years. But the white plastic handle broke and we cannot find a replacement for it anywhere. So now we have to throw out a perfectly good toaster oven because we can't open it. Also, I'm not sure why this price is so high. We got ours years ago for under 0. Definitely not worth the price listed here!

Great when new but not built to last - Richard Peterson - Burkesville, KY, USA
Cuisinart toaster ovens consistently get rave reviews, because they are well designed and work great WHEN YOU FIRST GET THEM. The sad fact is that they are not built to last. After 2 years the paint around the door of our TOB-165 was burnt, bubbled, and cracked. Now at 3 years the plastic control membrane surface is starting to split. None of this would happen if Cuisinart had used temperature resistant materials. Maybe I am unrealistic to expect any small appliance to last more than 3 years. This oven needs to be replaced but I don't know if it is even possible to buy quality any more.
