unit not what's on box - wafmsgof -
I bought this at a big box store thankfully because the 2nd one is going back today. The first one had a broken handle right out of the box. I exchanged it. Now the door flops open and almost broke my plate. The picture on the box and the instructions show hooks that attach to the rack to help it slid out, which I was thinking would slow down the door. My old B&D had a spring loaded door so it didn't flop open.
I called Customer Care. The guy was REALLY nice but said that the redesigned model didn't have the hooks but they were still selling it in the old box with the old instructions. Swell! I don't like the 3 dials. I'd rather have a permanent "toast" setting. I do like the idea of a timer so I don't leave it on bake for days but I don't trust this model particularly based on the other reviews. This one's going back to the store.
Wish there were was a 0 star option - Karen -
Bought this toaster specifically because it had hooks to slide the tray in and out (our last toaster had them but they didn't work very well and these seemed better). Got home, opened the box, there are no hooks. So I called customer service and she said "return it to the store, we made a mistake". She said they did not give coupons or gift cards to make up for the error, there was nothing she could do. She was not particularly sympathetic or helpful. When I looked online, it turns out black and decker sold their small appliances to this other company who is clearly very incompetent. I used to really like black and decker but I will not be buying from them ever again.

Disappointing - Virginia Butkowski -
I bought this oven a little over a year ago and the oven portion just stopped working. The first one I bought was burning things and thought it was just a fluke, so I exchanged it for the same one. That was a mistake. It also takes forever to toast things. How can companies justify selling a product with only a 1 year warranty!! Cuisinart has 3 year warranties on their toaster ovens and great ratings.
Plain junk - M Brown -
I bought this oven 5 years ago. The toast/oven switch function on the top knob failed within a couple years, so I installed a replacement toggle switch which got it working again. Now the top front element failed, and I see this has happened to other owners of Black & Decker toaster ovens by searching for the problem online. It cannot be replaced. It is now in the garbage bin, and the next oven won't be a B&W.

convection bake
large capacity
temperature control (non-digital for fewer things to break)
2 rack positions
front pull out crumb tray
What I don't like:
It doesn't make me coffee or do my laundry
I've had this oven for two months. I thought convection baking would be a gimmick but it's not, that little fan works amazingly well. Freezer burritos look like mama made them from scratch. I use this oven more than I use any other appliance in my house, and it performs well. Heats quickly, maintains good temperature, quick toasting.
Black and Decker always satisfies!

The only negative is that the top gets quite hot when the unit is in use, otherwise I'm very happy with it.
You'll regret if you buy this one!! Seriouly! - M. chang - Sunny West Coast
The toast function broken in 2 months. It always flamed up if baking the salmon fish. (Scary and dangerous!!) I called B&D Customer Service, and they said this item was NOT manufacturered by B&D! (Why use the brand B&D if B&D won't be responsible for this oven?) The warranty works like this: Within the 1st year from the date of purchase, you have to call the customer service, and they will direct you to another manufacturer phone number. After you call this number, they will ask you to cut the electric plug with wire about 5~7 inches and send it to some address along with a copy of the recipt and a .00 check to cover the S&H for the replacement unit. That's not too much work, but very much frustrated! Buyer has to pay for the shipping costs for the defective unit. (I mean, the defective unit is manufacturer's fault, why should I pay for it?!) After you send your plug away before you receive your replacement unit, you have no oven to use! That's why I need a RELIABLE oven to rely on!! This toaster oven is not reliable, nor responsible!
Heating elements burned out - M. Hardy - Puget Sound, WA
The element on top burned out and B&D has stopped making this model. So the oven hanging hood can longer be used. They are replacing the oven and waiving the fee's since I can no longer use the hood.
This is the second replacement in less than I year.

I've had the toaster for several months now, and I use it once or twice every week. It makes a buzzing noise for 3 or 4 seconds after it is turned on, but that is not really a problem.
I use it for toast, taco shells, hot ham & cheese sandwiches, heating up frozen hamburger buns, and cooking fries.
I wish there was a way to install it under the counter, but I haven't had any trouble with it.
I prefer the real classic to this "Classic" - H. Mack - WA, USA
After 14 years, our old BD toaster oven broke down (a sad day). We basically wanted the same thing - dependable, effective, easy to use (for us and the kids), and able to fit under the counter. We assumed we'd get that with this newer model. Alas, we were wrong.
It took much much longer to toast bread. There is no under-the-counter feature. You can't have it set on the same "Medium" each time - there's a dial that you have to turn to the precise spot each time you use it. My kids never got the hang of it. So we were lucky if we actually got toast when not watching the machine like a hawk. Plus, there is no safety feature that turns off the heating element when the door is open (did I mention I have kids? They're very helpful, but often curious). Then there's the constant ticking, which will make noise even if the toaster is not plugged in...meaning I waited a few times for toast that had no chance of heating up.
After about a week, we realized it was not a suitable replacement for our old-reliable, and we took it back. Now we're on the hunt for a good toaster oven...again. So, I do not recommend this to any consumer, but I do recommend to Black and Decker that they bring back the good-ol-toaster oven of old.
Don't buy this oven - The K's -
It quit working after three months and NO help from Amazon with replacing it! Wish i could give this product and Amazon's service zero stars.
Thanks Amazon

how the food is cooking through the glass door.
Since I'm trying to lose weight, I was looking for a convenient way to broil and bake more foods and this was my solution. (The broil function in my oven isn't working plus it felt inefficient to heat up the whole oven for one small piece of chicken etc.) I'm also using it to roast vegetables, which it handles beautifully.
I haven't tried the rotisserie or convection features yet.
I'd recommend this as an oven replacement for a small one or two person household.
Good, But.... - Susan May Pelto - Pueblo, CO
We've had this device for several weeks now. We've used it for baking, rot is, toasting, but not broiling as of yet.
Here are the observations:
[1] Good device for all intents and purposes.
[2] Needs improved control of the toast function. Set to 3, the toast is too light. Set to 4 it burns the edges. Instead of 7 settings. Make it 20 settings. You can afford to pay your programmers that much. It would only be a few lines of code and a more flexible circuit. I'd rather have the flexibility than years of improperly done toast.
[3] The rot is has issues with whole chickens of 3 pounds and up. They need to be trussed up in a corset of string to avoid contacting the drip pan
[4] The beep on the machine sounds too much like the smoke detector. I can live better without thinking there's a fire in the kitchen. Change the sound to something else.
Regards,
Chuck Pelto
Toaster Oven - Sue Fuson -
This is the BEST Toaster Oven I have even owned. I love that it turns off when the timer goes off. This way you can't burn your food incase you forget to take it out of the oven. It is a perfect size and works great for everything I have tried.
Nice Product - D. Moczalla - Dallas, TX
It is a nice product, unfortunately it needed to be returned because it was a gift for my mother. She was disappointed because she does not have the patience to program it and had too many buttons for her. She just wanted a dial for the temp, on/off switch and a button for the rotissierie.
