Don't buy this! - D. F. Klitzke - Seattle, WA
I have had this for a little over a year and have used it about once or twice a week since then. The heating pattern changes for no reason - one bagel comes out burnt, the other one barely warm. And now the heating element broke while toasting my son's breakfast! Had I not been looking closely, I wouldn't have seen the shards on his bagel. Save yourself some money and avoid a headache: don't buy this.
Unsafe Toast Oven - Constance S. Fullerton -
This product is not user friendly. It is hard to regulate the heating/toasting controls. Once a heating method has been chosen you can not undo the selection. Unplugging the unit stops the heat process but when plugged back in, heating picks up where it was stopped. Opening the Door does not stop the heat process. Toasting is hard to judge and burns easily. You can not put food in the toaster oven without standing right by it and be watchful. This product is not safe - bad choice.
Not like they used to be - Byron S. Rose - Pittsburgh, PA USA
Our previous Black & Decker toaster oven bit the dust after many years of great service. So we purchased this item from Amazon (in spite of the many negative reviews). We hoped that we might get one of the few that would be good. One of the reasons that we needed this model is because we have a cabinet for our toaster oven that would not accommodate a larger model.
The item arrived very quickly. Amazon shipping is really great.
We got out our bread and tried to toast two pieces each at light, medium, and dark. In each case the toasting was extremely uneven. Half the toast was toasted darker than it should have been and the other half did not toast at all. On the dark setting the half that toasted actually burned. The strange thing is that the toasting elements seemed to be evenly bright, so we could not figure out what was wrong.
We called Amazon to discuss return of the item, they arranged a pick up by UPS, they paid the shipping and the item was picked up the following day. We received our return credit immediately on the arrival of the toaster at Amazon. So in the long run the toaster was a bust, but dealing with Amazon is always a pleasure.
DON'T PURCHASE THIS ITEM.

burning down the house, electrical fire - Mark in Wichita - Wichita, KS
Had a serious wake up call this morning. At 6:30am, was awakened by smoke detectors going off. Followed the heavy smoke to the kitchen where our toaster was in full flames, most of the plastic was burning, the cabinets were very hot and dense electrical smell. Was able to unplug the toaster, cord falling apart in my hand, and put the fire out. Counter was ruined, as well as part of the cabinet. No one was around or up at that time. From what I can determine, the toaster just caught flames due to an electrical short in the controls. I am glas I did not go anywhere for the holiday weekend, or I would have come home to a burned out apt. I do not recommend this toaster unless you wish to set fire to the place.
Bringing new meaning to the term "Chinese Junk" - G. Attison - Long Island
Avoid buying this toaster at any cost. Use a campfire if you must or a blowtorch for toasting your bread or bagels. This unit is a P-O-S!!! and I ain't talkin' sassafrass either. The spring is so weak that after three months, it hasn't the strength to lift a bagel out of it's slot. As an added feature, your toast comes out burned on the bottom half and undone on the top half. It's great for making stale bread out of fresh, for bread crumbs though. If you want to invest your money in a country that has avowed our destruction, buy one of these pieces of garbage. Just make sure you have P-L-E-N-T-Y of fire insurance.

Not quite a microwave, Not quite a toaster - G. Pulaski - New Jersey
Nice little piece of equipment, though it takes a while to get used to. We've cooked everything from waffles to chicken nuggets to pizza and I have to say it does a fine job. Cooks about twice as fast as a conventional toaster oven but it takes a little getting used to. There are no temperature settings just an interface to choose the type of food you are cooking. We have burnt a few things along the way but now have it pretty much figured out. The only complaint I might have is that it cooks much faster on the top than on the bottom so the food needs to flipped halfway thru.
Black & Decker Infrared Oven - Love it! - Margo J. Normoyle - Mt. Laurel, NJ
I used to have a Panasonic Infrared that was just terrific, it lasted about 8 years. So I just couldn't bring myself to get a regular toaster oven. When I found this Black & Decker, I tried to research it as best as possible prior to ordering it.
It is even better than the Panasonic. It has so many different features to choose from. You must at least read the manual as much as you can stand! It's important. I do think this is just wonderful and cooks chicken breasts juicy and tender in less time than an oven!
Quit working after about 10 uses. - catmom - Richland, WA USA
The oven arrived quickly and worked just great at first -- I was very happy with it; however, it just stopped working after about 10 uses. Nothing I can figure out to do has made it work again. I'm ready to pitch it in the garbage. A waste of money!

unit not what's on box - wafmsgof -
I bought this at a big box store thankfully because the 2nd one is going back today. The first one had a broken handle right out of the box. I exchanged it. Now the door flops open and almost broke my plate. The picture on the box and the instructions show hooks that attach to the rack to help it slid out, which I was thinking would slow down the door. My old B&D had a spring loaded door so it didn't flop open.
I called Customer Care. The guy was REALLY nice but said that the redesigned model didn't have the hooks but they were still selling it in the old box with the old instructions. Swell! I don't like the 3 dials. I'd rather have a permanent "toast" setting. I do like the idea of a timer so I don't leave it on bake for days but I don't trust this model particularly based on the other reviews. This one's going back to the store.
Wish there were was a 0 star option - Karen -
Bought this toaster specifically because it had hooks to slide the tray in and out (our last toaster had them but they didn't work very well and these seemed better). Got home, opened the box, there are no hooks. So I called customer service and she said "return it to the store, we made a mistake". She said they did not give coupons or gift cards to make up for the error, there was nothing she could do. She was not particularly sympathetic or helpful. When I looked online, it turns out black and decker sold their small appliances to this other company who is clearly very incompetent. I used to really like black and decker but I will not be buying from them ever again.

Worth the money - ZN Hurston - OHIO
It takes up a lot of counter place but it's an easier way to cook. One thing I don't like about the oven is you have to set the timer before it will heat up, that's pretty annoying. The rotisserie is the best part!
Don't waste your money - Robert J. Krier -
Very slow to heat up and cooking anything takes at least 2X longer than it's supposed to. Example: a frozen pizza takes 25 minutes instead of 10-12. We had this for about 18 months when it died. The timer(also the on/off switch)went bad. It's impossible to find this part, since it's made and distributed in China, so it's now going into the garbage.

Plugged it in and found it inert - Rkellerhouse -
I unpacked this item and plugged it into a wall socket. The little display lit but none of the buttons worked. No functions were available for use. I repacked the toaster oven and shipped it back to Amazon for about + having printed a return label. Strangely, the return had to be paid by me with a refund promised. My refund from Amazon amounted to . I went to the local USPS office and found out that I could not have returned the toaster oven for 10.00.
I am a long time Amazon customer and have reordered a second toaster oven from Amazon. So, .00 is not all that much money ... I wonder why or what I missed cautioning me about using UPS (ground) for the return ... better yet, telling me the amount of the refund at the time of the printing of the return label. Oui??
Buyer Beware - Victoria Brown - pacific northwest
I bought this oven two years ago (to replace the microwave) and for the most part it has performed well-enough for re-heating left-overs if you aren't in a hurry. If you want to toast bread though, use a toaster, it's faster.
My biggest complaint with this oven though, is that the rack slides out very quickly and there is NO SAFETY STOP on it. It not only slides out crazy fast, but it wobbles and tips down as it does so. Trying to remove a hot baking dish or tray with sizzling grease in the bottom is a burn hazard, even more so when one is trying to grip with hot pads and everything is unstable and awkward. The oven opening is shallow, just really difficult to get in there without sliding that rack, or accidentally touching the heating element on top. For the price, it should have been designed better.
Also, the inside is non-stick. I am trying to limit my exposure to this chemical coating, and was disappointed that the oven and the trays that came with it were all coated with what is essentially "teflon"..you can do your own research on that.
At the time of purchase, I was unaware of the "glass-shattering problem" and frankly, now that I've read so many reviews about it, I'm ready to toss this out now rather than wait for that to happen next. I'm surprised that there hasn't been a SAFETY RECALL--and that the unit is still being sold AS IS.

Posted by : Longdoo | Sunday, September 19, 2010 | Published in 31955, 4Slice, OvenBroiler, Photos, Proctor, Scanner, Toaster
Pros: Very roomy inside, especially considering its small footprint. This toaster oven takes up no more counter space than our old 2-slice oven, yet can hold about 50% more food. The sliding glass top makes it easy to watch food while it cooks, and the crumb tray is a snap to clean. It's a versatile and good-looking appliance.
Cons: Slow to heat up. This oven is big enough that it really needs an additional heating element. When making toast, I have to preheat the oven for a couple of minutes before putting the bread in. Otherwise, the bread gets dried out before it's brown.
Would I buy it again? Maybe... although I'd look at the competition first.

Had it 3 years now and it's still tickin'. It's real perty and it does it's job. It's also inexpensive. What more do you want from me!?!?
Seriously.
Toaster Oven - P. Johnston - Idaho
This Proctor Silex toaster oven is the best one I have ever owned. It is deep enough for a small pizza, a pan of cornbread, or whatever you would use your big oven for. Makes great toast, too!! I love it and it is small enough to sit on the countertop. Works great.

Failed 3 times! - Xavier - NC
I bought this oven because I wanted to upgrade the old Black and Decker that we had. It looked good: famous brand, stainless steel, sturdy, what could go wrong?? My first impression was that it didn't heat as fast as the old B&D (which for just toasting bred is annoying). I will not repeat some of the other flaws already mentioned in other reviews. To be brief:
1st unit -> After 7 months it stopped working, no power light!
2nd unit -> The timer kept going directly to zero
3rd unit -> The power light went dead again...
The one positive thing is that Kitchen Aid has replaced the oven each time very quickly, so great customer service. I'm pretty sure I'll get the 4th unit soon but this time I'm selling it for cheap on craigslist or giving it away!
This oven is just about looks but there's nothing inside (nice shape but no brains). It's not a serious oven to bake anything (quiche, cake, etc...) even when it works!
My recommendation: If you're looking for an oven for simple tasks (toast bread, reheat dishes) I would go with something smaller such as Black & Decker CTO6301 6-Slice Convection Toast-R-Oven, Stainless Steel. And if you're looking for a real oven that can actually cook pizza, quiches, pies, etc, then spend more money and get a Breville BOV800XL The Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven with Element IQ!
No wonder KA retired these toaster ovens - Unhappy with KA - Chicago, IL
I also owned this toaster oven and I was very disappointed. The first one broke after 6 months (no light, no power) and Kitchen Aid replaced it with another one which I only used for less than 2 months before it died again (no light, no power again!!!). I called Kitchen Aid customer service and they told me that since they no longer manufacture(No Wonder)these toaster ovens, the best they can do is give me a coupon off any of their corded appliances. What a joke! Kitchen Aid further informed me that they might come out with another toaster oven at the end of the year...well, good luck with that one, I thought...no more Kitchen Aid toaster ovens for me!

Sanyo "Toasty" oven putchased from Amazon - A. T. Veley - Houston, TX
This Sanyo "Toasty" toaster oven is a replacement for one purchased at least 15 years ago. We liked it because it takes very little counter space and does an excellent job of toasting. We bought a new one because, after remodeling our kitchen, we wanted the shiny silver model. (One of our sons is getting the old white one for his new house.) You can toast on the top or bottom separately or both at once. Sanyo SK-7S Space Saving Toasty Oven, Silver You will love this toaster!
Was great until the knob broke off - Homer Bartlett - Atlanta, GA
We really liked this "toasty" oven. It has a nice size and shape, and we learned to work with its lack of true oven features (like setting a temperature). Nine months after purchase, however, the oven selector knob broke off, leaving it permanently set to top rack only. When I called Sanyo service, they said the unit is discontinued and there are no parts available in any of their warehouse and offered no further assistance.
[...] is being great about accepting it back and offering a refund, but since there are still some of these units available (and in white as well as stainless), anyone considering purchasing one should assume they will get no warranty love from Sanyo and will need to return the unit to the seller if it breaks.
Cuisinart TOB-155 Toaster Oven, Stainless and Black
Posted by : Longdoo | Monday, September 13, 2010 | Published in Cookware, Cuisinart, Gourmet, Stainless, Starfrit, Toaster, TOB155
So, I agonized over spending 4-5x as much on the Cuisinart. Glad I did, the thing is a very fine machine, easily worth the price when compared to the rest. Have done toast to perfection (just remember your preferred setting) and so far has baked things perfectly.
As for complaints about burning fingers, it is a freaking small toaster oven, don't go grabbing bits that are sure to be hot. How hard it is that to figure out? A simple underhand grasp of the door handle keeps you away from the hot stuff.
About the only thing I might have liked it an option to have the tray extend as the door opens, but that does not come on big ovens either.
fantastic oven; worth the pricetag - M. Martin - boston, MA
my main reason for buying this was to use as an oven. we had been having trouble with our large oven taking forever to preheat & smoking too much & setting off the fire alarms every time we cooked. so i was looking for a nice sized oven we could use as a primary oven. this product is perfect! preheats in minutes to 450 and i roasted a 6lb chicken in it. the pan & broiler are fairly nice quality, although the pan does warp at high temperatures. it snaps back by itself if you rotate it. altogether i love the look & the feel of this oven; the controls are simple & sleek. i was hesitant to spend this much on a toaster oven but i do not regret my purchase now.
Cusinart toaster oven - GourmetPhil -
Very happy with this oven. It was more than I originally wanted to spend, but so glad I bought it. I love the way it evenly heats/cooks. The electronic controls are simple and easy to use. Highly recommend this oven.
Perfect so far - savvyshoppers -
When our 30 year old toaster oven died, we started reading industry and consumer reviews of toaster ovens and decided on this model. We've had it about a month and so far it toasts bread and bagels perfectly, and has baked a 12" pizza as well as fish fillets in less time than required in our stove oven. The baking pan is very easy to clean and removing the crumb tray is far more convenient than it was with our old model. We haven't tried the broiler function yet. Our only complaint so far is that the manual isn't very helpful with directions. We've figured out how to perform the different operations but it would have been nice to have had the steps clearly listed.
Maxi-Matic EBK-200 Elite Cuisine 3-in-1 Breakfast Station 4-Cup Coffee Maker, White
Posted by : Longdoo | Sunday, September 12, 2010 | Published in 3in1, Breakfast, Coffee, Cuisine, EBK200, Maker, MaxiMatic, Station
I'm a nurse and since I work nightshift, this machine serves its purpose in my room. Somehow I tend to rush when I go to the kitchen and I lose my mind. But since I have a fridge/freezer combo, and microwave in my room, everything I have is right here. Now that the 3-in-1 is a part of my collection, it makes everything so much simpler.
Some people gripe about how it's so small and that it can't do big items. This wasn't made for that. This was made to be the solution for those living in small spaces. To me, I'm perfectly fine with a small dinner roll to be toasted and eggs to be griddled on top. I find that awesome.
I give this a 5-star because it makes my life a lot better!
Pros:
1. Small in size
2. Griddle works like a charm
3. Coffee maker works fast!
4. Toaster a go-go! Can't go wrong with it!
Cons:
I don't see any in my opinion! I'm a simple person that doesn't need big items to be toasted. A simple dinner roll works for me!
Everything Smaller Than Expected, but Works as Promised - Daniel C. Hohler - Tucson
This 3 in 1 Breakfast Machine contains a toaster oven, hot plate, and coffee maker. All the items are smaller than if you bought them separately, but if you are tight on space this is definitely handy.
The toaster oven was probably the biggest negative. It is only wide enough to fit 1 slice of break. Fortunately there is a top burner and a bottom burner so you can stack 2 pieces of bread on top of each other and flip them in the middle of cooking.
I cooked eggs in a basket on the hotplate and it cooked the egg in about 5 or 6 mins.
Pros:
Space Saving
Dial Timer 15 mins max
Can turn on/off top and bottom burner individually
Reusable Coffee Filter
Easy to clean removable hot plate
Comes with baking pan
Negatives:
All components pretty small, can't toast large items
Don't expect to cook for large parties, but if just cooking for yourself not bad.
Timer clicking down can get annoying
quick serve - port-a-maid -
I found this item to be convenient and very useful. I can sit at my desk at the office or at home and prepare a quick meal without ever having to leave my seat. I LOVE THIS LITTLE MAID....

I find a toaster OVEN, Finish, baking the bread. I find that if you over toast the bread in the oven, the surface of the bread may look burnt and hard, but the center of the bread is soft and moist, where as if you burn the toast in a toaster, it is hard all the way through, and you might as well throw it away. What is also interesting is if you over toast the bread,in the oven, the surface of the bread has a sweet like taste.
I would certainly read the instructions, so you know how to line up the dials correctly, and you will get Fantastic Toast.
Hamilton Beach has been in business over 75 years, and still the same company, and stand by their products, most of my kitchen appliances are Hamilton Beach, and have held up very well. I can't wait to try the oven on other foods.

DeLonghi DO400 1400-Watt Digital Control 4-Slice Toaster Oven
Posted by : Longdoo | | Published in 1400Watt, 4Slice, Control, DeLonghi, Digital, Toaster
First off, you will NOT find a better toaster oven for the money. I got mine for . The next closest in price with a digital temp display was just under 0. And for me, getting a toaster oven without a digital readout was pointless. I didn't want to use one of those manual dials where you have to guesstimate the time and temps. I want to know that 350 @ 2 minutes is exactly that, and not just loose parameters.
This DeLonghi does NOT burn my toast. I use the T6 setting with the rack on the middle setting. Grilled cheese comes out perfectly, as does toast. I've also cooked breakfast burritos, taquitos, ham & cheese sandwiches and small frozen dinners all with great success and ease. And the food tastes great! This thing is wonderful!
Yes, this does beep when it's finished cooking, but I like the beeps. It's not overly loud, yet can easily be heard even if I'm in the next room. It's hardly like those annoying alarm clocks or anything of the like. Truth is, I don't see how they could have made this any better. You'd be a fool to pass this up for a more expensive digital model, or a less efficient manual knob model. Those knob ones remind me of those old-fashioned (and useless) egg timers -- it's virtually impossible to get accurate time with those.
Bottom Line -- DeLonghi has made a superior product here, and at an affordable price. I would definitely buy this again and recommend to others. It's hard to beat and you won't find anything this good at the price. No need to spend hundreds when this one is perfect as is! Very happy with this purchase.
Best in class toaster oven - Kathyxl -
I just bought this toaster oven at a local department store after my black & decker one died. The black & decker
was never a good product - but it is hard to find a well made toaster oven. I purchased and tried a Cuisinart - was too large and did not work well. It was plus.
I was ready to go the traditional toaster route, when I came across the DeLonghi. I like the smaller size and it is very easy to use and clean. Many of the cheaper toasters only have one toasting bar across the top and bottom, resulting in an inferior toast. Also,it is very easy to open the bottom to clean out crumbs etc. Everyone in the family likes this product so much we are going to buy another one at Amazon and keep it for my son's apartment next year!
Good But Not Durable - Joana -
I've had this oven for less than two years. I liked it a lot at first - controls are not the most intuitive, but it did the job. Right around the time it was turning one year old, the display broke. As the product was still under warranty, customer support sent me a new one (not before they asked me for a piece of the power cord as proof what I had was unusable). What I thought was just bad luck turned out to be a real quality issue - a few weeks ago, the display of my replacement model broke again... and soon after the entire oven ceased to work. This time around my warranty is over, and I'm online shopping for a different brand!

great oven - Anita Edwards - BON WIER, TX, US
This is the best little oven to own. I work late and can come home and throw together a meal and cook it in half the time it takes in my regular oven, giving me time to do other things around the house. Just love it
It looks nice & makes good toast if you turn the bread over. - eXponent - Neither here nor there, yet everywhere...
The unit has a nice look & I've figured out how to make good toast with it, but whenever I've tried cooking a piece of chicken in it it fills the kitchen up with smoke. It's not the unit itself or the chicken that is smoking, I believe it's probably the fat/oil drippings vaporizing on the included baking tray. As I've only used boneless/skinless in it, I can only imagine how bad it might be with a regular piece of chicken. The fact that the door doesn't seal allows all of the smoke to escape into the kitchen as the food is cooking, however, I don't recall there ever being any smoke in my regular convection oven when cooking anything, including chicken. The toasting function doesn't work very well if you just try to toast something with a single toast cycle because it toasts much more on the top than the bottom. To combat this I've discovered that the way to go is to turn the toast value down (I use 1) & complete one cycle, then turn the bread over & do a second cycle, that way both sides of the bread get the intense heat from the top element. The bottom elements just don't do the same thing as the top & there doesn't seem to be a way to make the bottom elements run a little longer on a single cycle. I've also tried cooking frozen hamburger patties in it. It works, but it takes longer than my foreman grill & doesn't leave the meat in a very good condition. The foreman grill cooks a frozen hamburger in about 4-5 minutes well done & in excellent condition. I suppose the foreman grill might also cook a frozen piece of chicken but I've never tried it. Basically for me it is just an expensive toaster that requires input halfway through (turning it over & running a second cycle). Unfortunately anything else that it can do seems to be better done by my oven, foreman grill or microwave. Might be good for quickly reheating something that you want more crispy, but my convection microwave oven also has a browning feature, though I've never needed to use it.

Overall, I'm very happy with this toaster oven. I like the speed with which it cooks, the way the food comes out, & "quick foods" list. On the downside, I wish there was a way to program it for foods not in the conversion list - to input 350 degrees for 15 minutes and have it convert it to Infrawave cooking time. The rotisserie is so-so - about the only thing you can do is kabobs.
